I also liked the scientific note about Archimedes about the floating principle of different bodies, it was very good, and made it a bit realistic for me. You go about your life living each moment and next thing you know your caught in a giant whirlpool. Maybe I have fixed memories of Poe, but this story did not seem like any of the ones I had to read in school. Incorporates science very well.
